Spring and Summer Travel Vaccines
As the weather warms up with the arrival of spring, the date of your long-awaited mission trip, semester abroad or family vacation is finally right around the corner.
If youre traveling overseas or specifically to tropical or less developed areas, it is important to ensure you are properly vaccinated for the diseases you may encounter on your trip. These types of preventive vaccinations are designed to keep you well both during your trip and after you return home.
The CDC offers a great resource for checking what vaccines you need before you travel abroad: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list/.
Just select your destination country from the dropdown, provide some additional information about your trip and the CDC will provide you with a full list of the vaccines recommended for visitors to the selected country.
For example, a summer trip to Honduras or the Dominican Republic necessitates Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines because of water conditions and food storage requirements in those countries.
It is also important to note that many of the vaccines required for international travel require multiple doses over several days or weeks, so be sure to get your health and vaccine assessment at least 6 weeks beforeyour international flight takes to the air.
Many of the vaccines needed for international travel are available at The Little Clinic. Visit our website to find a location near you.
