Safety First This Spring
After a cold winter, there are many activities we like to do in the spring such as spring cleaning and working on projects around the house, cooking out with neighbors or taking a trip to the beach.
No matter what your spring plans are, tackle them with safety in mind.
Spring Cleaning
Hazardous materials like cleaning supplies, pesticides and gasoline should be properly marked and stored in a safe, secure place away from children
Wear rubber gloves when using hazardous chemicals to prevent their contact with skin
 Never mix chemicals
Always seek advice regarding proper disposal of hazardous materials
Yard Work
Always wear proper protective clothing and eyewear
Inspect the yard before mowing to prevent launching hazardous objects
Read manufacturers instructions on all power tools before using
Unplug all power tools when not in use
Water Safety
 Only swim in approved areas
Always check the depth of the water before jumping in
Always supervise children in and around the water
Always use an approved personal flotation device when involved in water activities like boating, jet-skiing, tubing or water-skiing
Grilling Safety
Position barbecue grills safely away from buildings
