Going Out of the Country? Check Vaccines Off Your To-Do List.
If youre traveling internationally this spring, youve probably checked the most obvious things off your packing list, like your passport, bathing suit and tennis shoes. But did you know that you might also need a vaccine or prescription before you leave the United States?
Anytime you leave the U.S., whether for business, personal enjoyment, mission trips or studying abroad, its vital to check which vaccines you need to travel to that specific country. This list from the CDC is a simple way to determine the vaccines or precautions you and your family may need to take prior to traveling: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list
Some vaccines must be administered four to six weeks prior to traveling, so its important to determine your needs about two months in advance of your trip. Some vaccinations require multiple injections and can take up to two weeks to provide the protection you need. And dont forget, many of the diseases weve almost eradicated in the US are still widespread in other countries. Bringing home dangerous, infectious diseases like polio, measles and mumps can be a plane ride away! Confirm with your healthcare provider youre current on all your vaccines.
At The Little Clinic, we can help determine what you need to reduce the risk of becoming ill by offering a healthcare services package, which includes:
Pre-travel Overview
Current Health Assessment
Vaccination and Medication Review
Recommended Prevention Measures
In addition to administering vaccinations, your provider at The Little Clinic can also prescribe medications to prevent malaria, motion sickness, altitude sickness, travelers diarrhea and more.
Be sure to get a health assessment before your travel to reduce your risks of getting sick of infectious diseases and bacteria and fully enjoy your trip! It could be the most important thing you check off your list!
